About Michele

Who I am

As a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), I bring more than 20 years of experience helping my clients to:

  • Take control of their finances
  • Plan for their future
  • Make common sense investment decisions
  • Relax about their financial affairs because they can ask me for advice
  • Purchase investments that make sense for their goals and their risk tolerance

I have enough life experience to handle my clients’ varying needs.  I welcome new ideas, new ways of thinking, and change.  One of the favourite parts of my job is meeting new people.

My Education and Professional Background

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) – Financial Planners Standards Council
  • Canadian Securities Course – Canadian Securities Institute
  • Professional Financial Planners (Honours) – Canadian Securities Institute
  • Life Insurance and Disability Insurance Licensed – Alberta Insurance Council

I surround myself with competent professionals who can assist my clients where I cannot – such as lawyers, accountants, tax experts, insurance specialists, real estate agents and mortgage brokers.

I chose financial planning as a lifetime career because I have a keen interest in investing and I also like helping people to manage their money so they can enjoy their lives more.

Prior to choosing financial planning, I worked as an information management consultant. This work took me to all of the major industrial sites in Alberta including the oil sands, oil refineries and other chemical plants, the gold mines of the NWT and the potash and fertilizer plants around the prairies.

This experience helped me understand the industries that drive our economic prosperity, along with their impact on our environment. I believe that both aspects are important to ensure a future for our children and it is very important that we involve ourselves with finding a way to achieve a positive future.

My Role as your Financial Planner

I believe my role as your Financial Planner is to:

  • Help you feel confident you are making the right investment decisions
  • Provide ongoing advice on financial matters including investment decisions such as mortgage terms, new employer benefit package choices, new education savings plans for children and grandchildren
  • Understand your needs by getting to know your story, your goals, your fears and your investment knowledge
  • Create a financial plan that is a “work in progress”, designed to assist you with both today’s needs and tomorrow’s hopes.  Financial plans must be flexible and able to change as your lives change, due to marriage, the birth of children, a new job or the loss of a job, an illness, a divorce, or a death in your family
  • Always be available to you
